I personally think that Homecoming crushes are healthy. Every time I attend my Tuskegee University Homecoming, I see this guy that makes me wonder. No, I wouldn't trade my present life in to see, "What if," or nor would he. But, for a split second, when our paths finally cross, it's pretty much obvious that we were on each other's hit list in College, and someone else won each of our hearts. He knows that he was looking for me to say a special hello, and I knew that he would find me in the midst of the mad crowd. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's okay to put your guard down and come to terms with realty. No one can take anything away from you, that is meant for you. So, go ahead and turn your head for just a split second. We're way to mature to be jealous and insecure. We all know that even though the grass may be greener on the other side, it still has to be mowed. Happy Homecoming Tuskegee University!!! You taught me that nothing will ever be able to destroy a solid foundation.

I have purposely set out to keep myself occupied as much as humanly possible. It's not that my only daughter went away to college, and left an obvious gap in my life, that has me running all over the world. It's the unpredictable fate of change that has me running. Everything that I was familiar with, has been snatched from my agenda. Somedays, I even miss writing the check to her Tennis Coach. When you love someone. Their life intertwines with yours.
It's not a sad adjustment to move beyond where we are in life that causes some of us to run. I believe, it's the holes that get left in our daily routine. As I write this note to myself, I'm realizing that I'm happy to be, "Free," to run around and fill in some of my personal blanks. But, I'm still aware that the holes left in my life will never be filled. I don't want them to. I'm calling them my memories of the past. They keep me company when I'm dead ass tired from chasing my undiscovered parts of life. If you get anything out of life, you must make your perspective your guide. At least, that's the note that I have written to myself.

We Are Sisters

The girl in the middle is my other beautiful sister. Meet Ashley. It's a long story. It's a very long story. Sometimes having a sibling from a different mother or father can be weird. It was her birthday the other day, and we went to dinner to celebrate her. It's clear to anyones eye, that she belongs to, "Us,". If there is someone to blame for all of the distance, and the missed birthdays and Holidays, over the years, it's our Father. It all started with him. See, though he is no longer around to witness our attempt in building a better relationship with our sister, he should have known better. Everyone wants to belong. Everyone deserves a family. Everyone matters. We are all grown adults now, and whatever was left undone, can never be rectified. I'm not even going to attempt that. What I will say out loud to anyone that is paying attention, is this. The one opportunity that presents itself in our lives to build bridges, and mend fences, should be constructed carefully.

I can not recall how many accidents that I have avoided. I just don't know, exactly how many times I have ended up in the wrong lane. I do not remember all of the wrong that has been done to me. I just don't know. So, everyday that I wake up, and I wake up with the chickens. I arrange my life in the order of good. I put all of the good things in my mind that are pleasing to my soul, and I start my day. To the friend that asked me the other day, Angelia, are you really always happy?" My honest response is, "I don't ever remember being really sad." The peace that surpasses all understanding, really is attainable. I'm only telling you this so I won't be the only happy person in the room. Won't you join me?? I'm off to order my day. Nothing can get in my way!!!
