There is no way that I could ever write my own story without her. It’s been so fun learning how to bake her famous lemon pound cake, fabric shopping, bingeing on Netflix, Playing with my Mommy, and last but not least, watching her make these beautiful skirts and blouses for me and that daughter of mine. Somehow you seem to have gotten off track. I really don’t know why. I suspect that you may believe that what you may want in your life, or out of your life exist within your ability to make claim to it. Well, It really doesn’t.
The saying, “Chasing your dreams,” exist in fairly tales. Working in your life to accomplish dreams, gives you a much better perspective on seeing them realized. My advice is singular. It comes from what I have experienced, but honestly most of my free advice is based on my ability to be a spectator. I listen, I watch, I ponder the world around me and then I act accordingly. I use my faith as my guide. Just because we all may want something out of this place we call life, doesn’t mean we’ll get it.
Patience can sometimes make a person appear lazy or not driven. In some cases folks can make the claim that you’re lackadaisical. Shun those observations and clarify your mindset to yourself. Go right ahead and believe in miracles if you believe in miracles. Make your todo list long and detailed. Create dream boards, make plans, and wake up everyday ready to make your mark in life. Just don’t put on a closet shelf a lot of secrets about yourself. You’ll soon forget that no one is really paying much attention to your rise of fame. Everyone is all just a click, a like, or maybe even a delete button away from disappearing. Do you for you no matter how you may be perceived. A Deliberate disguise is never wise. Happy Thursday.

I am slowly learning that when reward does not have equal yoke to a persons effort. The real probability of them growing exceptional character, discipline, and courage eludes them.
There is very little wisdom that can be bestowed upon someone that takes more than they give. For how will they continue to gain the favor and blessed karma of the goodness of the givers, the doers, and the least of those that give a damn? The only time that I count thank you as having a true meaning, is when effort makes excuses the monuments of nothingness. “I am sorry,” is probably the most overused phrase ever used. Be intentional, be exceptional, be kind, but most importantly, on this Wednesday, be present to meet the needs of those that matter. You never know how the generosity of commitment can change your life ❤️ Happy Wednesday!!

It’s almost time for that Daughter of mine to celebrate her Independence Day. You know ...The 21st Birthday; When Freedom begins to reign...not ring.
When shackles are broken. When Her established belief system is challenged. When her confidence is securely in tact and her true friends bound to her back. It’s the time when liberation meets ones principles, and when legally she can journey in this world without me and the Sports Joc.
In a few places she’s old enough to purchase liquor, weed, and .... crazy that you can buy drugs at 21 but you can’t get a rental car. The foundation to stand sure is beckoning at her feet. I’m slowly turning into a spectator. Her favorite fan, her ride or die, and her fan. It’s the time in my life when I feel most likely to say, “I’ve done the best job that I know how.” I have been blessed. I’ve raised the best of myself for almost 21 years and it’s been a magical blast. That Mother/ Daughter thing helped to define my purpose.
It was the Sports Joc’s idea to surprise her by taking her girly group away for a surprise. All expense paid trip for them to culminate in a place with sand, water, gambling, and he indicated that it could be, “Parent free.”

You must make sure that you use your Father as a guide, and use all of his wisdom that he kindly shares with you. Use it as a reference to help you to one day be able to choose the best Father for your children. The man that you’re standing next to is the best present that I will ever gift to you in this lifetime. Continue to love your Father tenderly. “It’s been a while since I posted. Everyone has always said that I have a quiet demeanor. Some folks even thought to say that maybe I was shy. Last night reminded me of what my Mom always taught me. She would say “Son, Your words wont mean anything if your feet don’t move to them.” I’ve been playing and being a part of sports most of my life. I’m thankful for the opportunity that he gave me to bless others. Last night when the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame put the jacket on me, I was surprised that it actually fit!” I was more surprised that so many people noticed my sincere efforts to make my blessings multiply. Thanks to everyone that has supported my dreams of giving back all while cheering for me. I’m so very grateful.”

I tell anyone that is willing to listen to me, this; Fall in love with a man that is your role model. Pray for a man that you admire; One that doesn’t pretend, or more importantly one that keeps his word to himself. That way, he will be able to keep his promises to you. He dreamt of being able to give back and help others. He was born in a small town in Florida that most people have never heard of. It’s a town where people hardly ever leave. I have witnessed him with his hand held out to help anyone up that needed a lift. He despises social media, my obsession with living out loud, and any attention. But last night, for just a moment, he was reminded in his Hometown by The Polk County Sports Hall of Fame, that his dream keeps coming true. All he ever wanted to do was to be able to make a difference. I said it for him because the Sports Joc Wayne Gandy is a silent leader. Now, back to regular programming.

I met this man over 27 years ago in an Athletics Injury class at Auburn University. It was when Sewell Hall was the exclusive and only dinning options for Athletes, and when every team had a curfew. He broke his curfew just for me. It may be the only rule that he ever broke. He has always been my role model. He will always be my role model. Thank you Polk County Sports Hall of Fame for recognizing a man of great stature, integrity, and generosity. I knew him before and he’s even better❤️ A very special thank you to Mel Gables and Andrew Williams for helping him to reach this milestone. I mean it!!!!

It’s only been 19 years since our paths crossed. But, our connection is much bigger than time. We have used Facebook as our place holder. Text messages and Checkin’s have kept our friendship solid. Dinner ran into a parked car of confessions and throwbacks. LOL. We talked till her battery went dead in her car We had to call for road side assistance! No matter were our feet have taken us over the past 19 years. We’re back together again resting them in the hotel lobby in a city called Houston. We’re a long way from where we use to be. For the love of a Mother is something that we all share. We can’t remember the exact feeling on the day that we were each delivered to this world. But, if you’re reading this then you made it here with love. Love that is greater than our ability to comprehend. This Mother’s Day is special. I’m wiser now. I’m more careful about how to love. I know that my gift of life is the best gift ever. I am reminiscing and counting my blessings for everyone that was born to a Mother. “I see sunflowers every year towards the end of my bike ride. It’s what reminds today that I can do anything-“
I tell myself every year that I can’t do it. But, I keep training. Through pain, life issues, and thoughts of defeat. I keep riding my bike. I start thinking about all of the hills that I have to climb and all of the people next to me. I have to remind myself that it’s not a race. It doesn’t matter who gets there first. It’s only important that if it’s in my power, that I try hard to finish what I started. To me, 60 miles is a long way to ride on a bike. It even gets lonely sometimes. There are moments on those back roads in Alabama when I look around and I am the only one on my path. I paint a picture of completion. There are flowers blooming all over the vast land of Alabama. When I ride through Tuskegee, I remember my first day in College and the excitement of working towards success. When you think about it. My journey on my bike is just like my life. It gets hard sometimes. But, the good has outweighed the bad. Things that I thought were impossible were made easy, and doubt just subsides with effort. Here I go again. Thank you Tiffany Leigh Jackson for the words of encouragement. Thank you for remembering that I do it for me. And...To see fine ass Bo LMAO. Let’s ride!!!!! #BoBikesBama
Late Night Thoughts
That daughter of mine told me to dress nicely when I attend her Delta Luncheon. That I needed to represent her at her Delta coming out festivities like a Mother. So, like any fashionable person I tried on several options and decided on none of them. I even thought to put on a top hat to show my style and sophistication. Then it hit me. Delta Sigma Theta was already getting the best that I had to offer. My Phoenix. My most beautiful, intelligent, loving creation. I’m saving my outfit for another occasion. Lunch with a friend, a trip to Home Depot of just for selfies. The best in me is never in my closet. She is proudly walking around Tennessee State University growing into an icon. Me and that daughter of mine. What’s a quick trip to Nashville on a Tuesday worth to me? Everything. It’s crazy, I know. We count the days till we see each other. I don’t know how this happened. I disciplined her and punished her. I even acted like a psycho mom on bad days when her will attempted to get confused with my way. We actually agree on one thing. I’m her everything and she’s mine.
